RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING &
RECOGNITION OF CURRENT COMPETENCIES

Recognition of prior learning acknowledges you have already learnt from other courses, work experience and training on the job, as well as life experience.  If what you have learnt is relevant to the new course, you may not have to do those parts of the course again.

The procedure to assess people for Recognition of Prior Learning involves a detailed assessment of both qualifications and skills.  For this reason, only those who have a real belief that they already possess the knowledge and skills outlined in the training content should apply.

RPL Application Fee

A fee of $200 may be charged for an RPL assessment application.

Applications must be made well prior to course commencement to allow sufficient time for assessment of your application and if necessary to demonstrate current competence.

  • No provision for exemptions will be made once training commences.
  • Details of relevant experience and education with supporting   evidence need to be provided in your application, for example:
  • Work related documents, performance appraisals, Diaries, Business Books, OHS and Incident Reports
  • References
  • Certificates from previous training

On receipt of your application, it is assessed, including the checking of all evidence for accuracy and deciding if there is sufficient evidence to support exemption from some of the course competency elements.

Assessment of your initial application will take 5 working days.

If any further assessment is required you may need to provide further evidence or demonstrate particular skills, for example, demonstrate CPR; or undertake an oral or written assessment, using, for example, first aid critical scenarios or multiple-choice questioning.

At the end of the assessment, you will be notified of the result of your application.
