HLTFA301B APPLY FIRST AID UPDATE (REFRESHER)

The HLTFA301B Apply First Aid Update program is for people who already hold a First Aid Level 2 Statement of Attainment or equivalent statement, certificate or qualification. 

The program consists of 2 components:

• A personal competency review and preparation for assessment
• A 7-hour trainer-directed workshop review of critical information, skills and assessment of participants’ current competencies.  

On registration, you will receive an information package with study guideline and a course workbook. 

Review and preparation for assessment

Registering for this course means you are confident you have the required competencies coming into the workshop.  For this reason, a pre-training review using the course workbook is recommended.  Completing the Summary Questions at the end of each workbook section is one of the best ways to prepare for the workshop.

Workshop program – 7 hours

Your trainer works with participants dynamically, drawing on their knowledge and skills.  The focus is on assessing current competencies in the provision of emergency life support and first aid.

The workshop includes:

• Review of answers to Summary Questions at the end of each course workbook section
• Discussion and review of critical information
• Review of CPR skills and practice
• Assessment of performance in managing an unconscious casualty and giving CPR
• Assessment of first aid knowledge using an assessment paper of multiple choice questions 
• Assessment of first aid management skills using a variety of realistic first aid scenarios.

Entry requirements

A First Aid Level 2 Statement of Attainment is required for entry.
