HLTFA301B APPLY FIRST AID FLEXIBLE

This program is our most popular HLTFA301B course option.  It is designed for self-starters, first-time learners and first aiders who prefer a mix of self-directed study and trainer-facilitated review. 

• The Flexible program consists of 2 components:
• A self-directed study component
• A 7-hour training workshop and assessment of competencies.    

On registration, you will receive an information package with study guideline, course workbook, & CD ROM. 

Self-directed study

The pre-training study component is the distinguishing feature of the Flexible program.  It’s “flexible” because you can study when it suits you. The time taken varies depending on previous learning experiences and usually takes most people around 3 – 7 hours.  The study involves working though each Workbook Section and this work is essential as it provides the necessary knowledge base to enable you to progress to competency during the workshop.  The Summary Questions at the end of each workbook section are completed before attending the training workshop.

Workshop program – 7 hours

Your trainer will work with you dynamically, drawing on the knowledge and skills you’ve already gained during your pre-workshop study and previously.  Training focus is on knowledge reinforcement and skills performance required for competency in emergency life support and provision of first aid.

The workshop includes:

• Review of answers to Summary Questions at the end of each course workbook section
• Discussion to develop further understanding of relevant first aid knowledge areas
• Demonstration and practice of managing an unconscious person
• Demonstration and practice of CPR skills
• Demonstration and practice of relevant first aid skills
• Management of first aid emergencies through performance in a variety of realistic first aid scenarios relevant to participants’ workplace situations
• Assessment of course competencies
