HLTFA301B APPLY FIRST AID EXTENDED This training option is for first-time learners who prefer or need a longer training time. The program is popular with groups where there are particular learning challenges in terms of language, comprehension, literacy and/or culture. Careful preparations are made to tailor training to meet identified learning needs. The trainer works with the group, progressing systematically through the course content, drawing on past knowledge and skills. Training focus is on assisting you to gain the knowledge, and develop the skills required for competency in emergency life support and the provision of first aid. Trainers use a variety of training approaches including class and small group discussions, first aid critical incident scenario simulations, workbook exercises, sustained practice of CPR and other first aid skills, and relevant audiovisual materials to support learning to competency. Importantly, the training is spaced over a longer period creating an environment supportive of participants’ individual learning needs.
