(Immunisation Emergencies Management and Resuscitation)

Description
This course offers nurse immunisers, in addition to CPR, a review of anaphylaxis and its management. This course is ‘best practice’ for nurses working in local government immunisation, maternal and child health and GP Practice sectors.
Content Overview
- Maintenance of breathing and circulation of an unconscious casualty
- Positioning an unconscious casualty in the recovery position; maintaining a clear and open airway of an unconscious casualty
- Rescue breathing
- Demonstrating cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Review of anaphylaxis - pathophysiology
- Signs and symptoms
- Differential diagnosis and management including CPR
- Adrenaline administration
- Changes in resuscitation techniques and equipment

OPTION 1
IEMR Yearly Update - Standard
1 Day Training Workshop & Assessment
Cost: $85per person
This option suits nurse immunisers who prefer a trainer-facilitated learning environment and interaction with nurse colleagues. In the workshop relevant changes are highlighted, practice issues are examined and skills demonstrated, practised and assessed.
OPTION 2
IEMR Yearly Update - Online
Online Learning + 1.5 Hour Face-to-face Assessment
Cost: $85 per person
The online learning option enables nurse immunisers to review essential knowledge related to anaphylaxis management and CPR using an innovative, stimulating and interactive program of structured critical incident, decision-making exercises, information reviews, quizzes followed by a short face-to-face assessment. A study kit is sent to you upon registration into the online course.
Entry requirements
Participants must be accredited nurse immunisers.
Trainer/Assessors
PREMIUMHEALTH provides trainers who are registered nurses or ambulance officers that have at least Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.
Assessment
Students’ performance in relation to the course’s competency elements is assessed.
Award
A Statement of Attainment is issued on successful completion of the CPR competency unit and is current for 12 months and a Statement of Participation is issued for completion of the Program.
