CARING FOR CLIENTS WITH EPILEPSY

Description
This program is designed for carers working with clients who have epilepsy.
The course develops the knowledge to understand and recognise epilepsy and the different types of seizures, and the knowledge and skills to manage seizures. Common medications used to treat epilepsy are discussed.
There is an optional course component for those carers endorsed to administer buccal midazolam and rectal valium.

Course Duration
2 hours
3 hours including both medication options
Trainer/Assessors
PREMIUMHEALTH’strainers are registered nurses that have at least Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.
Assessment
Students’ performance is assessed.
Award
A Statement of Participation is issued upon completion of this course
