Description
This course is designed to develop the knowledge and skills to provide oxygen resuscitation and the provision of oxygen therapy and to support the casualty until the arrival of medical assistance and includes the pre-requisite module of CPR (HLTCPR201A)
Content Overview
- Assessment of the situation and recognition of the need for supplemental oxygen and/or cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation as outlined in CPR course description (HLTCPR201A)
- Assessment of oxygen equipment
- Administration of supplemental oxygen using specified delivery devices and flow rates appropriate to the equipment
- Assessment and obtaining emergency services or medical assistance
- Communication of the details of the incident
Course Duration
4 hours
Trainer/Assessors
PREMIUMHEALTH provides trainers who are registered nurses or ambulance officers that have at least Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.
Assessment
Students’ performance in relation to the course’s competency elements is assessed.
Award
A Statement of Attainment is issued on successful completion of this course and is current for 12 months.
